N.C State Remaining Strong

You can say that N.C. State is feeling positive these days, but who wouldn't, they come from a four-game winning streak leaving them in second place in the ACC standings without fearing that anybody can come close right now. Fortunately, Coach Herb Sendek is not planning to sit back on this for the next games. They are going to play Georgia Tech, and although the 9-12 overall and next to last in the ACC standings at 2-8 and the fact that it has lost eight straight does not mean an easy win for Sendek, on the contrary, this might mean that Tech is starving for a win, and it may be ready for a breakthrough. He sees a team that has played opponents close lately and fallen short - losing at Florida State 80-79 on Thursday night, and losing by one at Virginia Tech and by two at Boston College before that. Florida State, 19-4 overall and 8-2 in the ACC, trailed Tech at halftime in the first game and was still down 61-60 before taking control with a 12-2 rally to pull away in the last 10 minutes. Tech opened with a flurry, hitting 15 of its first 18 shots from the field. Sendek said he is happy with the way the Wolfpack has responded to similar situations lately. N.C. State has won two double-overtime games on the road in the past two weeks. It started its four-game winning streak with a 94-85 double-overtime win at Clemson on Jan. 29. Then, after tight home wins over Virginia and Maryland, it won in double overtime at Miami on Wednesday night 86-77.
